Field Operations

Overview

Under direct supervision of the Undersheriff, or general supervision of the Sheriff, Field Deputies provide law enforcement services and protection for our community – Beckham County.Â Each Field Deputy on an assigned shift, operates a patrol vehicle to observe for violations of traffic laws, suspicious activities and disturbances of law; and takes appropriate action upon observation of these activities.Â Each Field Deputy responds to radio calls for service, serves warrants and makes arrests;Â conducts investigations concerning a wide variety of crimes; handles domestic disturbances and a variety of citizen complaints; directs traffic if necessary; prepares detailed reports on each case received; assists disabled motorist; and assists other agencies as necessary.Â Â This work involves an element of personal danger.
